boat wont plane off
By ranger bill (steilacoom, wa) 2003 trophy 2302 with 200 hp efi mercury saltwater outboard -- running along today at 32 mph on puget sound when boat suddenly lost power (kept running, no engine alarm noises) -- now the boat continues to run but won't plane -- anyone have any ideas on what could have gone wrong?. Similar to the other regal rush xp i can't get my 1995 regal rush xp w/120hp sport jet to plane off. it just plows water at about 5mphs after a minute or so it will set up on plane and then will get upwards of 42mphs. i am curious if this could still be the same problem with the ride plate gasket or am i looking at a different issue.. If it doesn’t plane, it’s pushing the boat through the water (i.e. slow) not maximizing it’s potential and speed on top the water. we researched online, talked to everyone at the marina that would talk to us, talked to the prior owner of the dinghy who assured us he had a 6 hp outboard and it would plane just fine..
