Making A Boat Unsinkable

making a boat unsinkable

Trying to make your boat "unsinkable" is a bad idea, well beyond the sacrifice in storage/living space you will give up installing all that additional buoyancy. it will likely encourage you to take risks you would otherwise avoid. show full signature _____ '85 byb vagabond 39.. I am interested in making my boat unsinkable, so incase it gets punctured i wont sink and can hopefully repair the leak (underwater epoxy) then bail out and keep going. , i calculated i need 100 cubic feet of flotation. i took some measurements, and i found i have space for 45 cubic feet under the bunks, i have not counted underneath the cockpit which i imagine has another 45 cubic feet.. A boat equipped with a well-trained crew, watertight bulkheads, some solid foam, several good pumps and buckets, and flotation bags can probably avoid a sinking and that final step into a life raft. what would make a bluewater boat unsinkable? we venture to offer a combination of the following: trained crew; inflation bags.

making a boat unsinkable Re: making your boat unsinkable if you are out in rough weather or high winds and are concerned about being knocked down, put your hatch boards in and keep your companionway hatch dogged closed. then the only way you'll sink is if you hit something hard really hard in the wrong spot, which seems unlikely on lake lemon.. Sawfish was the first boat i designed, my 10th or so boat build. it is light weight, fast (relative term), inexpensive, unsinkable, and stable. best of all it can be built without one expensive "marine" component..
